Che differenza c’è tra bring e take?

In breve, come si fa a dire “portare” in inglese? Come si dice “portare” in inglese?

Per capire come esprimere il concetto di “portare” in inglese, partiamo innanzitutto dalla definizione. Sia bring che take, infatti, significano “trasportare”, ma la vera differenza fra i due verbi è nella direzione del trasporto vista dalla prospettiva chi parla. Per capirci meglio: è un po’ quello che succede con i verbi “andare” e “venire”!

• Bring: trasportare qualcosa verso (o vicino) chi pronuncia la frase, ad esempio:

Excuse me, can you bring me some water please?
I will bring some pizza to the party!
Please bring the computer here.

• Take: trasportare via (allontanare) qualcosa dall’oratore, ad esempio:

Driver, can you take me to the airport?
Please take the trash out!
Are you going to the post office? Can you take my package there with you?
