Se hai frequentato delle lezioni di inglese e adesso stai pensando di sostenere un esame di certificazione per un livello B1 (intermediate) di inglese, allora dovrai sicuramente fare pratica con diverse tipologie di testi scritti per superare la prova di writing. Dato che l’article è proprio una delle prove richieste, vediamo subito – step by step – in cosa consiste e come scrivere un articolo in inglese B1.
Esame B1: come scrivere un articolo in inglese
Perché è importante sapere come scrivere un articolo in inglese? In effetti si tratta di una tipologia di testo molto comune (in questo momento ne stai leggendo uno!) e, se hai raggiunto un livello B1 di inglese, è molto probabile che tu possa incontrarne diversi in riviste o newspapers, sia online che non. Per iniziare a capire di cosa si tratta, possiamo dire che:
an article is a text that expresses your opinion and knowledge about something. It should be an entertaining text that gets the readers attention and informs them.
In un articolo dunque diventa fondamentale pensare al nostro lettore! Saper scrivere un buon tema in inglese è un ottimo punto di partenza, ma in questo caso è necessario informare e intrattenere con un argomento di cui sappiamo qualcosa. Ecco subito un esempio che ti aiuterà a capire un po’ meglio come scrivere un articolo in inglese:
Reading for Young Adults: it’s great!
Reading is a wonderful pastime for everyone, but especially for young adults. Not only does it offer an escape from reality and a chance to exercise one’s imagination, but it also provides several benefits.
First of all, reading regularly can improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills, increase empathy and social awareness, and even reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, the experience of getting lost in a good book can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.

Come scrivere un articolo in inglese B1?
Vediamo insieme le caratteristiche fondamentali di un articolo:
- Pensa a un titolo accattivante
Il titolo riassume in poche parole l’argomento del tuo articolo. Pensa a un modo per rendere il tuo titolo interessante, magari con un’opinione o una domanda che incuriosisca a leggere!
- Organizza il tuo articolo in paragraphs.
In genere, un articolo sarà sempre suddiviso in diversi paragrafi. Per semplificare, una struttura-tipo che puoi adottare è questa:
- Introduction
- Description (o main body)
- Recommendation and ending
Il main body, ovvero il cuore del tuo articolo, potrebbe essere diviso anche in più di un paragrafo. Quello che conta è che ogni paragrafo sia separato dagli altri e riferito ad un solo argomento. Ciascun paragrafo, infine, potrà essere costituito da due o più frasi (a seconda della lunghezza che dovrai raggiungere – in genere almeno 100 parole), collegate tra loro in maniera logica.
- Coinvolgi il tuo lettore
Abbiamo detto che lo scopo di un articolo è informare e coinvolgere. E dunque, come fare? Beh, porre domande è in effetti un modo molto efficace di raggiungere questo obiettivo 🙂
Fai riferimento alle tue esperienze personali e ricorda di fornire qualche raccomandazione o suggerimento: sono sempre molto graditi!
- Presta attenzione alla grammatica e alla scelta delle parole
Ad un livello B1, dovrai dimostrare di poter utilizzare un buon range di tempi verbali e strutture grammaticali con un buon livello di correttezza.
Ad esempio, nel tuo articolo potresti trattare un argomento attuale (utilizzando i present tenses) e magari condividere la tua esperienza personale (usando present perfect o past simple) così da poter ispirare qualcuno a fare altrettanto in futuro (con i future tenses!).

Modal verbs: You should really try this!
Conditionals: If I were you, I would watch it at the cinema.
Relative clauses: I know someone who lives in that area.

There is nothing like looking forward to getting home and reading a book that you are into. It helps you unwind, improves your imagination and it can even help you to learn a foreign language. There are so many kinds of books that can keep you entertained, such as adventure stories and even comedies. I enjoy reading all kinds of books, it just depends on my mood, but what I enjoy most are non-fiction texts.
