Quello di oggi è un successo planetario con una storia che non ti aspetteresti mai: parliamo di I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing degli Aerosmith. Tutti la conoscono, in milioni al mondo la cantano ma pochi sanno che il brano non è stato scritto dalla rock band bensì da una bravissima e famosa songwriter, Diane Warren. La storia
Nel 1997 gli Aerosmith vennero chiamati a scrivere e registrare un pezzo per il film di Michael Bay Armageddon – Giudizio Finale, pellicola in uscita l’anno successivo che aveva fra i protagonisti anche Liv Tyler, figlia di Steven Tyler, frontman della band. Il gruppo, in quel periodo molto impegnato nella realizzazione dell’album Nine Lives, non riusciva però a trovare il pezzo giusto;[su_highlight background=”#cae5fa”]l’etichetta aveva un pezzo pronto: una ballata romantica e struggente scritta (inizialmente per Céline Dion)[/su_highlight]da Diane Warren che in molti erano curiosi di sentire interpretata da una rock band. Il successo
Il pezzo debuttò alla prima posizione della Billboard Hot 100: un bel traguardo per una rock band che aveva alle spalle già 28 anni di carriera fra alti e bassi![su_highlight background=”#cae5fa”]Agli Oscar 1999 I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing fu candidata nella categoria “migliore canzone” e si piazzò seconda nella graduatoria generale.[/su_highlight]Paradossalmente e fra mille polemiche, il brano fu candidato anche come “peggior canzone” ai Razzie Awards del 1998!
